Getting to know Jessica Lyrek
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, families and groups, catering to people above the age of 5.
My approach is versatile, encompassing Solution-Focused, Narrative therapy and family-based therapies, among others, tailored as per individuals' needs. I treat various disorders, ranging from Anxiety and Dissociative Disorder to Autism, Aspergers and even marital problems. Keeping my environment homey, I maintain an even, friendly collaboration with my clients to help them find lasting solutions.
As a married mother of three, with all having varying degrees of ADHD and being adopted, I'm well acquainted with the foster care system. This experience triggered an urge to learn more about mental health and led me into this profession. Having graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology, I fortified my pursuit of mental healthcare by gaining Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Together, we would set goals at the therapy inception, strategizing through sub-goals to reach your main objective, at your own pace. Frequent goal reviews are made to ensure a smooth process.
Our initial session would entail paperwork completion and understanding your primary areas of focus, to better decide the modality for treatment. Besides getting to know you, I encourage you to get familiar with me too. Filled with a passion for helping people, I find satisfaction in every breakthrough, hearing clients say, "I never thought about it that way". This work is about changing perspectives to effect behavior changes. I believe it's my calling too.
