Psychotherapist
IL
I approach my work with a passion for understanding people, personality development, and how the use of insight and intention can lead to lasting, meaningful change. I seek to better understand the ways in which your unique history contributes to your perspectives on yourself, your worldviews, and how you relate to others. As a therapist, I believe it is imperative that I can create a supportive, safe alliance with my clients as we go about the sometimes difficult work of personal growth. I use empathy and curiosity in building a therapeutic alliance with my clients, using this as a jumping-off point to explore what techniques and approaches would best help you to meet your treatment goals, and live your meaningful life. I will seek to understand the concerns that bring you to treatment at this time, and how your unique experiences relate to both your current struggles as well as to the strengths you can utilize in overcoming these struggles. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and individual, couples, and group therapist. I received my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Indiana University. I specialize in trauma work and other anxiety disorders and am an EMDR-certified therapist. I am also well-versed in exploring the links between trauma and mood disorders and the ways in which these intersect and compound one another. I utilize a myriad of approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Exposure and Response Prevention, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, and Psychodynamic Trauma Processing. I have worked in various settings, including residential rehabilitation, child welfare, schools, and outpatient practice.
