Psychotherapist

Life is filled with so much beauty but it certainly also comes with a host of challenges, traumas, and difficult transitions. These struggles can cause feelings such as sadness, anxiety, and anger, as well as lead us to develop inaccurate beliefs about ourselves. It is my life's passion to help young adults work through these experiences, gain personal insight, and develop new skills to improve their quality of life and relationships with others. My name is Jessica, and I am a licensed psychotherapist with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I have 14 years of experience treating individuals in child welfare, community mental health, and medical settings. I have worked with people experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, hopelessness, and anger that can stem from many co-occurring issues, such as relationship discord or separation, interpersonal violence, child abuse, substance abuse, disabilities, homelessness, and poverty. My counseling approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a highly effective treatment for addressing anxiety and depression, as well as a host of other psychological struggles and difficult circumstances. CBT is a skills-based learning approach that helps restructure maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors. Through a series of cognitive restructuring and behavioral activities, I will help you learn how to develop more adaptive automatic thoughts, core beliefs, and behavioral responses. In addition to CBT, I utilize a variety of other interventions such as mindfulness exercises, emotion regulation, motivational enhancement, and solution-focused techniques. I am so glad you are seeking the support that many of us need during different phases of life. I would be happy to share more about my clinical orientation and approaches. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to joining you on this life journey and helping you become your very best you!
