Getting to know Jessica Parks

Are you standing at a crossroads, unsure whether to stay where you are or take the leap toward becoming the best version of yourself? Life's challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you're in need of support, encouragement, and a guide through life's transitions, I'm here for you. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey to healing and growth. With a Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and experience working with individuals aged 16 and older, I specialize in supporting clients through life's many stressors, whether navigating relationships, work and school transitions, or family challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If you're considering working with me, I want you to know that my approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect for your unique journey. When we begin, we'll talk openly about your needs, goals, and the challenges you're facing, and I’ll listen carefully to understand what’s important to you. From there, we’ll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your values and aspirations. I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support you as you discover your strengths and find strategies that truly work for you. I will guide you through different therapeutic techniques like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and others, but always in a way that fits your style and needs. It’s about creating a space where you feel safe to explore, grow, and heal at your own pace. Whether you're navigating relationships, transitions, or personal challenges, my goal is to help you gain clarity, develop coping skills, and move toward the life you want. If you're ready to start this journey of self-discovery and growth, I'm here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Let’s create the future you’ve always dreamed of, together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you begin working with me, the typical process is built around collaboration, understanding, and tailoring the experience to what works best for you. During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, current struggles, and your goals for therapy. This helps me understand your needs, and we’ll discuss any challenges you're facing, whether in relationships, work, school, or family. As we move forward, each session will focus on what’s most relevant for you at that moment. I use a person-centered approach, meaning I’ll adapt the tools and strategies I use to best suit your unique style and needs. Together, we’ll explore different ways of approaching challenges, building coping skills, and identifying your strengths. I believe in a collaborative approach, so you’ll be actively involved in shaping our work together. We’ll develop a treatment plan that reflects your goals, and we’ll revisit it periodically to make sure it’s helping you move toward the life you envision. Some sessions might include more reflection and discussion, while others might involve practical exercises or creative activities, depending on what resonates with you. Overall, my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore, grow, and move closer to becoming the best version of yourself. We’ll adjust our approach as needed, but I’ll be there with you every step of the way, providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
