I believe therapy works best when clients feel emotionally safe, genuinely heard, and supported without judgment. My goal is to create a warm and collaborative space where you can openly explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and challenges at your own pace. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, trauma, life transitions, or emotional overwhelm, I want you to know you do not have to carry it alone. I work with individuals, couples, children, teens, and families from diverse backgrounds and provide counseling in both English and Spanish. I value creating a culturally sensitive and compassionate environment where clients feel understood and respected. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies while also recognizing the importance of each person’s unique story, strengths, values, and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with clients, I begin by getting to know them beyond the presenting problem. In our first sessions, we explore your concerns, personal history, relationships, emotional patterns, and goals for therapy. Together, we identify areas where healing, growth, or change may be needed. From there, we develop a collaborative plan tailored to your specific needs and pace.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Throughout the counseling process, I focus on helping clients build emotional awareness, healthier coping strategies, stronger communication skills, and deeper self-understanding. For couples and families, I help identify unhealthy relational cycles and work toward rebuilding trust, emotional connection, and healthier interactions. My goal is not simply symptom relief but to help clients experience lasting growth, resilience, and healthier relationships in their daily lives.

More information on payments and coverage

I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, and UnitedHealthcare PPO plans. If you have one of these plans, your insurance may cover a significant portion of your sessions. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider ahead of time to understand your specific benefits, copays, and any deductible that may apply. Once you book your appointment, you will receive a call from Dr. Luis San Roman or from me to answer any questions you have and to walk you through the intake forms you will need to complete before your first session. That call is also a great opportunity to ask anything about coverage, fees, or what to expect. Please note that keeping your scheduled appointment is an important part of the therapeutic process. Consistency matters, especially early in the work, and I ask that clients honor their commitment to the time we have set aside together. If you need to reschedule, please do so as early as possible so we can find another time that works. If you have questions about payment or coverage that are not answered here, do not hesitate to reach out before booking. I want the practical side of starting therapy to feel as straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters most.
