Jessica Ruiz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages, Concentration in Spanish, from Longwood University. She worked as a medical education coordinator for 14 years in Washington, DC, and Charlotte, NC. During this time, Jessica was inspired to pursue a new career as a mental health counselor. She furthered her education by attending Antioch University New England, where she obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, graduating in May 2020. Jessica is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor. She has experience in community mental health and worked with underserved populations in the Charlotte Metro Area for three years. Jessica is proud to be a Spanish-speaking counselor and believes that multicultural considerations are an essential part of the therapeutic process. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, and other evidence-based therapies and techniques to support her clients on their mental health journey. Jessica's interests include trauma, grief, LGBTQ+ issues, and social justice advocacy. Her priority is to help people discover their true selves while expressing their deepest concerns in a safe space, meeting clients where they are. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her two fur babies, Arya and Sansa, playing board games, visiting the beach or mountains, attending sporting events, and enjoying live performances.
