Getting to know Jessica Russell

I am a licensed, independent clinical social worker with more than 15 years of experience helping others. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Social Work from Westfield State University. I have worked with clients of all ages—from “the littles” at two years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder or emotional regulation concerns to those in their 90s and above who are coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis. As a therapist, I specialize in working with women, men, teenagers, and all individuals included in the LGBTQIA+ population. My clinical work over the years has included hospice work, school social work, in-home therapy, and outpatient clinical work. I love helping people live their calmest and most productive life possible, and I truly believe in a positive growth mindset—we are all operating at the best capacity we are capable of at any given moment! As a private practice therapist, I am currently accepting patients ages 13 and older who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or mood and attention problems. I practice from an existential point of view and believe that my clients are the best experts in their own lives. I see our therapeutic relationship as a partnership, working together to heal past traumas and experiences that might be holding you back. You have amazing potential—you just need to unleash it and realize the strength within! I look forward to being a guest on your journey to inner peace and strength and empowering you to take back control of your life to be the best YOU possible. Please note that as I assess whether we are a good “fit” (as I hope you do as well), there may be instances when, professionally, I might not feel I can adequately be the therapist you need in the telehealth realm. If I feel you might benefit from another referral, I am happy to make one with your permission. The scariest part of therapy is taking that first leap—let me hold your hand so you can be the safest and healthiest possible!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session tends to review some of your history- what brings you to make the leap of trust into therapy and what some of your goals might be. This is a great time for us to get to know each other and decide if we are a good fit. The therapist/client relationship is a vital relationship that must be build on a foundation of trust and comfortability as well as honesty and truth. Not every therapist and client can work together and that's okay! We will see if we both think our partnership would be helpful to continue and move forward with agreed-upon goals. During our sessions, we will work together on adding to your coping skills toolbox and sharpen the tools needed for you to develop a stronger sense of self and autonomy in the future.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
