What should a new client know about working with you?

For more than twenty-five years, I have had the privilege of working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families facing a wide range of challenges. These include anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, autism spectrum-related concerns, ADHD, bipolar disorder, self-harm, and more. My work is grounded in helping clients build coping and anger management skills, while using evidence based treatment approaches to address the unique struggles each person brings. I see clients from age five through adulthood, and I offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy tailored to their needs. In addition, I enjoy providing seminars to organizations on topics related to mental health and well-being. On a more personal note, my family and I immigrated to the U.S. when I was four years old, and North Dallas has been my home for more than 37 years. This community has shaped who I am both personally and professionally, and I am grateful to give back through my work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You are able to schedule a 15 minute phone or video call with me through Zocdoc. This allows us a chance to talk and make sure I am a good fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, counseling sessions average 45 to 55 minutes in length. Clients typically begin with weekly sessions and then move to every other week to once a month etc. as they progress. Regardless of whether the session is virtual or in person, it will be one-on-one with the client(s) and therapist and the counseling fees are the same. Clients are able to schedule appointments, make payments, and send secure emails to me through a secure HIPPA compliant portal. Please provide 24 hour advance notice for canceling a session to avoid being charged. Therapy may at times be painful as you explore aspects of your history and life but most people find benefit from such exploration. It can take a significant commitment of time, effort, and finances. During therapy sessions, I am actively engaged with my patients and invite you to discuss any issues of concern. You may bring other family members to a therapy session if you feel it would be helpful.
