Jesus Rivera, LPC

Psychotherapist
4200 Euclid Ave, Ste 104, Rolling Meadows, IL
I am especially passionate about working with individuals struggling with problematic gambling, gambling-related stress, addiction recovery, and substance use concerns. I also work with adults navigating chronic stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and questions around identity, purpose, and direction. As a bilingual therapist, I value creating a culturally responsive and emotionally safe space for Latino and multicultural clients who may not always feel fully understood in traditional mental health settings. I also welcome clients who want faith and spirituality thoughtfully integrated into the counseling process, rather than feeling like those parts of their story need to be separated from healing. My goal is to help clients better understand the patterns, stressors, and emotional struggles affecting their lives while building healthier coping strategies, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of clarity, connection, and hope.

Getting to know Jesus Rivera

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing without fear of judgment or pressure to have everything figured out right away. I take time to understand your story, relationships, emotional patterns, and the challenges that may be keeping you stuck. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your specific needs, goals, and pace.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is focused on understanding you and what brought you to therapy. I want to learn about what has been weighing on you, what challenges or patterns keep showing up, and what you hope could feel different moving forward. Early sessions focus on building clarity around the emotional, relational, or behavioral patterns underneath the stress, anxiety, conflict, or emotional pain you may be experiencing. Together, we identify goals and begin creating a path toward healing, growth, and healthier relationships. As therapy progresses, sessions become more focused and active while still remaining flexible to your needs. I incorporate evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific goals while helping you build emotional awareness, healthier coping strategies, stronger communication, and greater resilience. Many clients begin with weekly sessions early on because consistency often creates the strongest foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
