What should a new client know about working with you?

I have different approaches to understand your symptoms. I obtained my doctorate in 1990 at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. I use an integrative approach to therapy, using skills that borrow from dynamic, CBT, ACT and Trauma informed perspectives. It's important to develop a good rapport and strong working therapeutic relationship to build upon. I have specialized with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions and grief. Often, people feel stigmatized about seeking a talk therapist, although in some ways COVID normalized feeling depressed and anxious/traumatized world wide. Seeking a therapist has been more of accepted way of getting support, that those in your life may not be able to provide. Most importantly, you have to go with your gut on how the connection feels with you as you're looking for a therapist to connect to.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Many clients will experience a sense of relief, after Dr Gewirtz is able to diagnose your symptoms and offer a safe place to speak of issues that people in your life may not be there to really hear. Often, she creates a therapeutic space.
