What should a new client know about working with you?

If you’re bringing in a child or teen, I use a non-directive approach that brings play and art into sessions to help them build coping skills and emotional regulation, and I collaborate closely with parents throughout so your family’s specific needs are supported. For adults, I draw on a variety of evidence-based techniques to help you gain new perspective, let go of patterns that no longer serve you, and move through life and career transitions with more clarity and confidence. Wherever you’re starting from, I want you to feel valued, comfortable, and respected as we build a treatment plan around your voice and your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first session, our Client Care Coordinator, Heather, will reach out to complete paperwork and make sure I’m a good match for what you’re looking for — so we can focus on you from the beginning. For adults, the first few sessions are about getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you’d like to change or work toward. From there, I tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. You’re the expert on your own life, and I bring the clinical knowledge and tools. Together, we’ll decide what feels most helpful and adjust along the way. For teens, a parent joins for part of the first session before I begin meeting individually with the teen. For younger children, the first session is parents only, with both parents encouraged to attend. If parents are divorced, both must consent to treatment. After that, I meet with your child using developmentally appropriate approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, art, and sand tray therapy. I also meet with parents every 4–6 weeks to discuss progress and ways to support goals at home. Regardless of age, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and designed to grow and change with you.
