Getting to know Joanna Bakowska

Life constantly challenges us in different ways. Many of these challenges (e.g., break up with a partner, moving to a new city, feeling anxious when meeting new people) create opportunities to explore one’s deep inner world and to delve into the reasons for our repetitive patterns of behavior or for our choices of partners with characteristics somehow familiar. We will explore the roots of these repetitive behaviors and foster new ones. I help my clients (individuals and couples) to recover from loss, grief and trauma. I will also provide you with tools how to foster healthy intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. With Internal Family Systems, clients will become more aware of many inner parts of themselves (e.g., protective, self-sabotaging, traumatized) that show up in their daily lives and develop insight into the motivations of these parts. Through this insight and empathy for the parts, clients feel greater harmony in their system as well as empowerment over these forces.
