Getting to know Joanna Chung

A bit about me… I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. The unspoken truth is everyone goes through periods of struggle--depression, anxiety and trauma are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we can experience at some point in our lives. I am a strong believer that despite the hands we are dealt, there is still a lot of livin' to do. The choice is ‘how’? My practice style is… I want to help. What’s more, I know that you do not have to settle for living with these struggles. Is it easy? Well, therapy is seldom a walk in the park. But is it achievable? Absolutely. Working together, we can uncover, understand, and resolve the issues that create so much pain in your life. My goal is to help you create lasting change and experience a vastly deeper sense of life satisfaction. We can do this by discovering what is preventing you from overcoming these problems, and then work together to build the resilience, skills, and experiences you need to succeed—to live a life more fully. My education and work experience… I began my work in therapy around the study of human behavior. This sparked an interest in broadening my expertise, and in that way being able to help an even greater number of people. The years that followed included intensive training at the University of California Davis Medical Center and California State University of Sacramento. This eventually led to my board licensure in Clinical Social Work and my ongoing years of work at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and various private practices throughout Northern California. It is my great honor to have experienced others in all walks of life—from maternity and pediatric, to young adulthood and throughout the aging population, as well as in palliative and hospice care.
