Getting to know Joanna Doane Ottavio
While I am a therapist first and a social worker second, I am passionate about addressing the ways trauma impacts not just individuals, but society as a whole. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University, which has deepened my understanding and commitment to this work. Outside of being a therapist and social worker, I take care of my rescue kitty, Squish. When she is not hiding my art supplies, I most enjoy creating mixed media art, perfecting my latest playlist, and spending time with family and friends engaged in comedic banter.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Joanna seems to be good at what she does, however, she is not very aggressive with her approach. She spends a lot of time writing and thinking, and those things end up taking over half of our actual session. She requires a lot of patience on the client's end, as those things take up so much time. In the 3 or so weeks that we've been meeting, I haven't gotten anything out of any of our sessions. I'm no better off than I was 3 weeks ago.
She's very nice, and would be a good fit for someone who is willing to go at a super slow pace in their healing journey.
