Getting to know Joanne Kim

Joanne has years of experience treating adults, the elderly, and the special-needs population in both community and medical settings. While working towards her Bachelor's degree in social work and her Master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University, as well as obtaining her Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) credential, Joanne has worked in community mental health, sub-acute inpatient rehabs, and hospitals. She provides individual and family therapy to those affected by health, psychosocial, socioeconomic challenges, and trauma.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Joanne uses a variety of treatment modalities including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based, strength-based, trauma focused, multicultural therapy and motivational interviewing approach. Joanne also has specialized training in Crisis Prevention Institution (CPI), which focuses on the de-escalation techniques and person-centered behavior management strategies to create a culture of safety.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Joanne looks forward to connecting with clients and working towards healing in a warm, supportive and safe space, where they are encouraged to expand their coping with life stressors and challenges.
