Happy Camper Counseling provides mindfulness-based, culturally competent individual and couples treatment for adults managing their medical and mental health conditions. My clients often expand on what they have experienced in previous therapies, yoga, and meditation practices. I hold a Master's in Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, which informs my approach to supporting each client's unique journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

.My practice is an intentionally inclusive and welcoming space for clients to experience their own embodiment of health, hope and healing. I am attuned to the impact of trauma and injustice. I hold compassionate space for those who have been marginalized. I am a LBGTQIA+ ally and strive to be anti-racist. What is your typical process for working with clients?

I teach mindfulness with DBT, dialectical behavioral therapy and ACT, acceptance and commitment therapy metaphors and strategies. I encourage clients to apply and practice skills both in and out of sessions. I combine traditional narrative therapy with skill building, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and poly vagal awareness to reduce trauma related and physical pain symptoms. I have extensive training in two theories of couple's counseling, Gottman and EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapy. I integrate specific communication and attachment-based teachings, interventions and strategies.
