332 S Linn St, #4, Iowa City, IA
Hi & welcome. I have 16 years experience in the mental health field, 4 years as a therapist. I am passionate about supporting adults, adolescents, and children with depression, anxiety, adjustment/life changes, stress management, low self-esteem, and school challenges. A large area of my work has been devoted to helping individuals through trauma, grief, and relationship challenges as well. For 4 years, I worked with children and teens from foster/adoptive homes and their families. I approach counseling with a strengths-based lens, incorporating elements from especially cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and narrative therapies. Empathy and a holistic perspective are key values in my work. I value the physical, spiritual, and cognitive intersections of our being. I seek to equip clients by aiding them in identifying their strengths and values, learning new tools, and taking actions to create the life they envision. Clients gaining self-compassion and hope is important to me. I aim to co-create a safe, accepting space where all clients feel supported and deeply valued. I look forward to hearing your story and walking alongside you on your journey. I am currently accepting new clients virtually who are located in Iowa and Texas and in person in Iowa. I hope you will begin by booking a 15 min consult It takes courage to reach out for support. I am glad you are here and I look forward to connecting with you and working together to reach your goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I often find that the trusting relationship formed between a therapist and client can be one of the strongest alliances and a main agent of change and improvement. In the first session you may expect to go over the main items of Informed Consent, so we are both on the same page before we start. The majority of the initial session we will build rapport and get to know one another. I will give you an opportunity to ask me questions and I'll ask you some as well. We talk about what is bringing you in to therapy and what symptoms you are experiencing. The first session may last up to 60 minutes. Later sessions will be spent discussing your therapy goals and how you'll know when you've reached them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will discuss what you're seeking in counseling and what your goals might be. I'm glad to be able to offer in-person sessions in Iowa City and telehealth services to all our clients (those located in both Iowa and Texas). Each client has different needs, but many clients begin by meeting every week. As we overcome and master challenges in their lives, appointments can transition to every other week and then to monthly or as needed.
