Hi there, I'm Jodee Thelen! I have a Master’s in Counseling from Saybrook University and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington. I practice Humanistic and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with an Existential/Systems approach to this relational work with you. I also include Mind/Body/Spirit perspectives—psyche is soul—so we explore this mysterious part of you to connect with your intuition and forward-thinking ways of being authentic and enough. We do this using heart-centered awareness of awareness. I appreciate what you bring to this process, and together we will name change as we acknowledge and pay attention to what that might look like—change? What can we change together? Thank you for this chance to work with you. My approach I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), bilateral beats, and polyvagal self-regulation with breath and touch—both EMDR techniques to help you find safety within yourself. We notice sensations and how we connect the stream of consciousness with what our bodies might remember during our time together. The subconscious works in this field of understanding oneself, and we explore the process together. I am aware of the window of tolerance and use CBT and DBT tools while connecting somatic attention to present-moment associations. The body, mind, and spirit become integrated to help with anxious thoughts and lack of motivation about what happened. We say: "It's what happens next that matters." My focus I suggest mindfulness and present-moment awareness with young adults—their developing minds make the "work" more permeable and noticeable. I also like to work with older adults because it’s a time to reflect and forgive yourself for allowing whoever that part was who made those decisions in the past—to still be here. All your younger parts are with you. Those parts want you to acknowledge them, so we work on that together. We integrate past, present, and future in the here and now.
