Dr. Joel Filmore serves as the Clinical Director for the practice, overseeing and developing the clinical department, including hiring and supervising the clinical team, client servicing, and marketing. He is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) serving individuals, families, and couples. Dr. Filmore is a nationally known professional counselor, educator, researcher, author, trainer, and public speaker. He specializes in working with clients around issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, sex and sexuality concerns, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and Trans individuals and families. He takes a special interest in working with couples to help them address deficiencies in interpersonal communication, assisting them in building relationships that foster growth, security, and safety. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois-Chicago, his Master's in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, and his EdD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Filmore is a published author and co-edited the book *Affirmative Counseling with the LGBTQI+ Population: Current and Emerging Issues*. He is currently working on a follow-up book, *Affirmative Counseling with Queer People of Color*, as well as a new counseling textbook, *Introduction to 21st Century Counseling: A Multicultural and Social Justice Perspective*. Dr. Filmore is available for individual, couples, and family therapy, both in-person and via secure Telehealth.
