Getting to know Joel Morrison

Hello and welcome to my second Zoc Doc profile, where those with insurance other than Kaiser may book with me. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from California State University Long Beach. I have been providing mental health treatment for eight years, both in private practice and at a mental health clinic. I've been privileged to work with hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds, and I believe that pain in all its forms can be a catalyst that leads us toward action and connection-whether that's within the mind, out in the world, or both. I understand how hard it can be to reach out to a therapist, and I'm more than happy to treat the session you book as a consultation. If you end up feeling like we are not the best fit, I encourage you to trust your gut and do what is best for you! :)

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use an eclectic method, drawing from the strengths of various theoretical frameworks and using elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic principles, Psychodynamic insights, and more so that I can adapt our approach to a treatment that is responsive to you as a whole person and considers your unique psychological makeup, life history, and personal goals. Your life-story, your beliefs and your strengths are of paramount importance. I strongly believe in acceptance, compassion and hope, offering these at all stages of our work together.
