Psychotherapist

Hi, I'm Johanna. I believe it is important to be supported. In such busy times you may be feeling tired of doing things for everyone else or doing what others want you to do. Possibly tiptoeing around everyone's feelings while ignoring your own. Maybe you had to grow up fast, taking care of other's needs long before you were old enough to take care of yourself. You could be reaching your limit or know it can’t go on this way. Putting everything and everyone else first can lead to feeling exhausted, overburdened, or taken for granted. You don’t have to do it all on your own to have a more peaceful and happy life. I became a therapist because I know how important it is to be supported and feel good about ourselves. I learned at a young age, while working in my high school counseling center, that we can overcome difficulties when we have someone to listen with attention, care and concern. I believe with kindness and sensitivity we have the ability to gain clarity and find fulfillment within. I am dedicated to helping people slow down, notice and honor all positive changes whether small or large. I believe by taking the time to get to know ourselves better, we chip away at blocks and rebuild inner strength. Each step helps us believe in ourselves, take care of our own needs and bring ease to saying no without guilt. Through working directly with people in politics for over 10 years, followed by my role as a therapist in community mental health, I truly understand the power of building strong, solid relationships with patience and understanding. As a bi-lingual therapist I strive to help empower Latinx people to find balance between cultures and support you through all transitions that arise. I am passionate about inspiring people to generate ideas, adapt new habits and let go of what's holding them back. You can have happiness and peace of mind. You don’t have to do it alone, I can support you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing patterns, and boundary challenges who are ready to reconnect with themselves and build greater emotional resilience. As a Spanish-speaking therapist, I also support Latinx clients navigating cultural stress, trauma, family dynamics, and life transitions with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and deep respect for their lived experiences. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you're accustomed to caring for others before yourself. Taking the first step is an act of courage and self-compassion. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we'll work to reduce anxiety, release guilt, strengthen self-trust, and develop practical tools that support lasting healing and meaningful change. I take a holistic, trauma-informed approach that honors the connection between mind, body, and emotions. Whether you're seeking relief from life's current challenges or looking to better understand yourself, I'll meet you where you are and support you at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we'll help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of balance and well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, my priority is getting to know you—your worries, your strengths, and the environments and relationships that shape your daily life. Together, we'll explore the roles you hold, the challenges you're facing, and the aspects of your life that are bringing you fulfillment. We'll work collaboratively to identify meaningful goals for therapy and develop a plan that aligns with your unique needs and values. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can build insight, develop practical tools, and make empowered choices that create lasting, positive change. We move at a pace that feels comfortable and appropriate for you, honoring your individual journey every step of the way.
