Dr. Johanna Riojas, PsyD

Psychotherapist
OH
Dr. Riojas of Wholehearted Psychological Services, PLLC provides individual and couples therapy and licensed supervision to practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. I am a firm believer that humans are doing the best with what they know at any given time. I'm also very aware that our contexts, both small-scale within our living situations, and large-scale within our society, shape how we feel and what we experience. My job is to help you better know yourself so you can live more aligned with your values and your goals while also creating space for the impact your contexts have on you. My therapeutic approach is dynamic and strength-based. I will help you find repetitive dynamics within your life and assist you in making the mental and behavioral changes you want to see. I am experienced in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, and addressing experiences of discrimination. You can expect to encounter a relatable therapist who practices radical acceptance and unconditional positive regard of your experiences. We can't make healthy changes from a place of shame, so I work very hard to help you take a non-judgmental view of your presenting concerns so you can identify what changes you want, rather than feel pressured to make.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a warm approach focused on building rapport, tailoring the therapeutic experience to your preference and comfort levels, and being collaborative in the creation of treatment goals. If you like your therapy mixed in with discussion of football, cats, or cozy video games, then I am the therapist for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is an intake. It will be very focused on rapport building and data gathering. Sessions following will be client centered, where we process any current concerns you have, review your treatment goals, and identify ways for you to work towards them.
