Getting to know John Genardo

In my practice, I take an individual-focused approach. Those seeking services will find a supportive, safe place to explore their thoughts, feelings, and address their needs. I use a person-oriented approach, putting the individual first by getting to know them and the issues they are facing. Together, we build a plan tailored to best suit their needs and provide a strong foundation for success. I utilize compassion, empathy, and understanding, along with excellent communication and time management skills. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Medaille College. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Board Certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Additionally, I am a Certified Anxiety Disorders Counselor (CCATP), Certified Mood Disorders Counselor (CDMDTP), Certified ADHD Counselor (ADHD-CCSP), and Certified Personality Disorder Counselor (C-PD). My practice is set in a residential house without large signs to help limit any stigma associated with seeking mental health support. I offer compassion and understanding in a warm and supportive environment. If you feel I can be of assistance to you, please contact me.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I put the client first and work with the person to build a treatment plan that will fit the needs of the person based on thier individual needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use a person-centered approach. I start by getting to know the person as an individual and work with them to develop a plan that will best suit their needs. When the person is in a therapy session, they are the most important person in the room. Information stays private and there is no judgement in the sessions, which means therapy sessions with me should feel like the safest place a person can be to share their emotions and inner thoughts.
