Hi there, I'm John Peters, LCSW. I am licensed in California with 20 years of professional experience. I have worked with clients facing aging issues, stress and anxiety, grief and loss, depression, and coping with life changes. I use a supportive and cognitive behavioral approach in therapy. My approach I combine supportive and cognitive behavioral techniques to help my clients navigate their challenges. My focus I specialize in working with older adults and their families dealing with life changes, grief and loss, end of life, and hospice. I also work with men's issues, anxiety, and depression. My communication style I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique needs. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and I am here to support you throughout that process. My journey to mental healthcare I began my career in aging while working at a large retirement community during college. I fell in love with this population and pursued a Master's in Social Work at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since then, I have worked as a clinical social worker in outpatient mental health and geriatric care management. I have also applied my clinical skills as an operations specialist working with hundreds of employees and clients. My journey has brought me back to therapy, which fuels my passion today. I take pride in helping others grow into happier versions of themselves. My goals for you Describe the reason you are seeking therapy. Write down what you are doing well and where you want to improve. My first session with you I will assess whether you have been in therapy before and start where you are now. We will review confidentiality and its limitations. I focus on building rapport and trust through active listening and sensitivity.
