Hello, I'm John, and I've been dedicated to the field of mental health since 1976. With a PhD and as a Licensed Psychologist, my journey has taken me through various settings, including private practice and working with the VA since 1994. I understand that the decision to seek help is both difficult and courageous. It's not easy to open oneself to new possibilities and behaviors, especially when the ones we've relied on have served us well enough, if not perfectly. As we grow, learn, and face new challenges, we often need to adapt our behaviors, which can feel uncomfortable and even threatening. When we outgrow old ways of thinking and feeling, trying new ones can be confusing and daunting. That's where I come in. I have extensive experience helping people navigate growth, change, and challenges, and I believe that a healthy lifestyle can be significantly enhanced within the context of a therapeutic relationship built on rapport and trust. I specialize in a wide range of areas, including PTSD, sex and intimacy issues, sleep disorders, spirituality, traumatic brain injury, addiction, anger management, anxiety, autism spectrum support, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, developmental disabilities, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, family relationships, grief and bereavement, medical issues and physical health, military and veteran support, intimate and romantic relationships, and trauma. My approach is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and work towards meaningful change. I would be honored to discuss how we might work together and whether a sense of rapport can be established. Let's take this step together towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.
