Counseling a myriad of individuals using a variety of therapies and treatment methods has been my life's work for 40 years. Often, clients find it challenging to implement change in their lives, despite their initial agreement to do so. The desire to escape from fear is something that resides within our DNA- completely natural and normal. If we're not truly content in this 'safe zone,' however, we may find ourselves stuck. Seeking help may arise due to this fear, leading to self-sabotage and immense struggle with feelings of guilt and fear from past failures. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of successful stress clinics, has stated that those who join must be prepared to 'give up all hope of fruition.' Similarly, Viktor Frankl emphasizes the importance of the brief period between an event’s occurrence and our response to it- here lies our growth and liberation. Achieving this freedom can lead to greater clarity and perhaps, even peace. My role is to guide you through this journey of psychological progression, not to forcefully alter your current comfort zone but to gradually expand it. The goal is for you to grow into the person you aspire to be and to make you discern that 'life is real only then, when ‘I am.' A bit about myself: I'm a competitive swimmer, a musician, a photographer, a globetrotter, and a mental health specialist serving the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. I have lived a few more years than most, though whether I am wiser is for you to decide. Let’s talk.
