Getting to know John Turner

I enjoy counseling with folks. With over 25 years of counseling in many different settings—including a juvenile court, family service agency, mental health clinic, adolescent center for runaways, a state-operated children's inpatient treatment center, and private practice—I bring to my practice experience working with a wide range of clients facing varying challenges. I was fortunate enough to work with some of the early pioneers in the field of family therapy and have an excellent foundation in this practice area. I offer family coaching for persons raised in challenging families who still cope with this stress as adults. I bring to our sessions not only an abundance of training and experience but also a balanced sense of humor. I'm easy to talk to and an excellent listener, but I can also be quite interactive in sessions when necessary. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, which has further enriched my approach to counseling.
