What should a new client know about working with you?

A focus of my practice is helping individuals who are struggling with personal challenges that may be impeding their ability to focus, be productive in their careers, or may be suffering through relationship and family difficulties. I specialize in ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety treatment with minors and adults. I've been Board Certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT). This Modality (CBT) has been proven by research to have the lowest relapse rate with Anxiety and Depression. This means my clients gain a set of tools they take with them into life. My experience and Certification in Cognitive Therapy helps me specialize in my work with Various Mood Disorders such as Major Depression, and Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety Disorders: ranging from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Phobias, Social Anxiety, and I have a passion in providing my clients and the public with psycho-education in the topics we work on. So my clients learn a great deal about their symptoms, and how to overcome or cope with them. A lot of our work is learning about how our feelings impact our behaviors, and learning to cope with and self sooth ourselves in regards to difficult emotional experiences. This leads to symptom reduction and self control. I believe humans are unique in the sense that we get to write our own stories when we are self aware. My passion is helping my clients not only escape the pain or distress in life, but to help them create and capture their goals and dreams. My hope, my heart, my joy, and my empathy is in my work with my clients and is fueled and driven from not only my own personal experiences, and from my work with my other clients, but also in a belief that we all can overcome and thrive! I believe in the inherent and honorable strength of the human spirit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In therapy, we will collaboratively focus on how your thoughts drive your feelings and the results in your life. Learning to be aware of how you think, feel, and behave in different situations can give you control, and power over different outcomes. This is the vehicle to beginning your journey to finding a true sense of peace, and is the first part in you overcoming any obstacle that comes your way in life. I can guide you in this process of getting to know yourself on a deeper level, to help you become the expert on knowing who you truly are. Together, we take a closer look as you will begin to understand the "Why’s in your life”. Why do I have these thoughts? Why do I procrastinate? Why don’t I get ahead at work? Why do I feels stuck in this relationship? In therapy, we take a deeper look in order to find the causes to the different traits that make you think, feel, and behave how you do. This process in therapy is collaborative, and done at your own pace. Also, I promote helpful coping and healthy and sustainable habits that are healthy and enjoyable! This one can be a challenge in today’s fast pace life. We find that people tend to do things for ourselves that feel good, but aren’t always good for us. Drinking, drugs, shopping, and a long list of other “things to do” can feel good, but are not Self-Care. Finding the time to take care of yourself and what this means is important to your peace and power in life. Furthermore, treatment promotes my clients ability to take action in life, as therapy can fuel the wind in your sails towards the discovery of clarity and peace. This is when you can truly gain control over your life. From here, you can adopt what has worked for you as a permanent part of your life in order to have a powerful, sustainable, and a lasting sense of fulfillment, peace, and balance.
