Getting to know John Watts

Welcome to my virtual office. I am currently offering TeleHealth sessions. I am a LCSW, licensed psychotherapist with 25 years experience, and 15 years social services/ministries outreach, providing individual and family therapy by utilizing a strengths-based, collaborative, holistic approach, allowing me to gain a clearer sense of my clients' Physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual needs, and finding viable, alternative solutions to reach a more balanced and optimal level of coping/functioning. I endeavor to conduct psychotherapy with individuals who are challenged with a crisis, substance abuse/addictions, Porn/sexual addictions, dual diagnosis, and related codependency issues; relationships, depression, grief and loss, PTSD and anxiety-related issues, adjustment/transitional, career/vocational; Additionally, I offer Premarital counseling to establish a firm foundation for marriage; because "after every wedding comes a marriage." I utilize a holistic approach for crisis counseling, as well as evidenced-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing/coaching, which facilitates my clients' ability to cope/function better with negative and self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. I firmly believe in providing a collaborative and supportive environment to maximize the therapeutic experience and identify what strengths and resources clients have to create meaningful change in their lives. For those who desire a Christian, Biblical approach, I also offer a faith-based perspective combined with psychological/systems theory I received my masters degree from Florida International University, and my B.A degree in psychology/pastoral/Biblical counseling from Southeastern College. I am a member of Phi Alpha and Alpha Chi honors societies respectively.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I firmly believe in consistently practicing the Golden Rule; “treat others fairly, with dignity and respect, as equals, nonjudgmental, based on the “content of their character” and potential. My philosophy and personality are a reflection of my values, and worldview; in a word, integrity; and my therapeutic approach, is a coaching and motivational style, to support and encourage clients to reach their full potential. I view my career choice in counseling as a calling, based on my gifts of a “pastoral” nature, as a leader, facilitating change through teaching effective coping strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Skills, and establishing and maintaining trust, which is the foundation of any healthy relationship, so that clients may find a more balanced life, a road map for recovery.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Dr. Watts is an amazing person. Extremely knowledgeable and caring. He had empathy and listened to me. He addressed my situations and directed me to the bible to help me move forward and remember with God by your side anything is possible.
Reading the description prior to the meeting allowed me to choose someone i felt could be a good fit for us. Once we met we knew the choice was right and we could communicate freely and have a good session. We booked another one at the end so we can continue to work together during our difficult path in life.
