Jonathan Green, LMHC

Psychotherapist
660 Central Ave, Ste 2, Cedarhurst, NY
Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck in unhealthy patterns or are overwhelmed by loneliness, anxiety, relationship conflict, or low mood and depression. I am a warm, thoughtful, and relational psychoanalytic therapist helping adults, teens, and couples harness their inner resources to heal their feelings of woundedness and make meaningful changes in their lives. I specialize in men’s development and work with concerns such as compulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, loneliness, anxiety, and stage-of-life challenges. I see patients in person in the Five Towns and on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and throughout New York State via telehealth. I completed my post-graduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Karen Horney Clinic in Manhattan and my graduate work in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Vanderbilt University.

Getting to know Jonathan Green

Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck in unhealthy patterns or are overwhelmed by loneliness, anxiety, relationship conflict, or low mood and depression. What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a space where you can feel safe, unhurried, and truly seen. We will go at a pace that feels right for you, exploring how your emotions, relationships, and inner conflicts may be shaping your current experiences. I believe that symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or recurring relationship patterns are not signs of something “wrong” with you, but important signals pointing toward deeper parts of yourself that are asking to be understood. My approach is psychodynamic and relational, which means we not only talk about your life, but also pay attention to how you feel and relate, including within our conversations. Over time, therapy becomes a process of reconnecting different parts of yourself, making sense of your story and writing its future, and learning to live with greater clarity, freedom, and self-trust. You don’t need to prepare or know exactly where to begin. We’ll explore it together. Please note that per Karen Horney Clinic policy, if you come to see me at 329 e 62nd Street, you will need to send me proof of covid vaccination booster before our first session. Alternativley, you can take a covid test or wear a mask in public places in the building. That policy does not apply to my office in Cedarhurst. Thank you for your understanding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what’s bothering you, and anything else you’d like me to know. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to help us deepen our understanding of your concerns, and I’ll answer any questions you have for me as well. We’ll also begin discussing what you hope to gain from therapy and how I can support your goals. As we continue our work together, therapy will become a place where you can speak openly, explore your feelings, reflect on relationships, and gradually discover new ways of understanding yourself. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, recognize patterns that may be holding you back, and create space for growth, clarity, and greater emotional freedom.
