Psychotherapist
NJ
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy for adults, couples, and parents who want more than symptom management alone. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and high functioning on the outside, yet internally they may feel anxious, stuck, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected in relationships, or unsure how to move forward in an important part of life. Some come because of long-standing anxiety, stress, self-doubt, family tension, life transitions, relationship struggles, grief, or patterns that keep repeating despite insight and effort. My goal is to offer a therapy experience that is both grounded and meaningful: a place where you can slow down, think clearly, understand yourself more deeply, and make real changes in how you live and relate. I draw from several evidence-informed approaches, including cognitive and behavioral strategies, family systems thinking, and psychodynamic and relational perspectives. I am particularly interested in how anxiety, stress, family patterns, identity, and life experience shape the way we think, feel, and respond to others. I also value helping clients understand what is happening in clear, accessible language rather than relying on jargon. Therapy with me isn't about being judged, rushed, or pushed into a one-size-fits-all formula. It is a collaborative process that takes your goals, values, relationships, and emotional world seriously. I work to create a space that is thoughtful, steady, direct, and compassionate. Whether you are looking for practical tools, deeper self-understanding, or both, I aim to help you develop greater clarity, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of direction. If you are considering therapy, you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Often people start simply knowing that something feels heavy, repetitive, painful, or hard to manage alone. Therapy can be a place to better understand that experience and begin responding to it differently.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I take the work seriously while also trying to make therapy feel human, approachable, and useful. I understand that starting therapy, or starting with a new therapist, can feel vulnerable. Many people arrive wondering whether they will be understood, whether therapy will actually help, or whether they will know what to say. My role is not to expect a polished version of you; it is to help create the conditions for honest, meaningful work. When working with me, you can expect a therapist who listens carefully, thinks deeply, and engages actively. I am not silent and distant, but I am also not there to dominate the room. I try to balance reflection, curiosity, practical guidance, and emotional depth. In some sessions we may focus on immediate concerns, patterns of anxiety, communication problems, or coping strategies. In other moments we may slow down and look at the deeper emotional and relational forces shaping your present experience. I often help clients connect what is happening now with long-standing patterns in relationships, family life, self-concept, and stress responses. Clients often appreciate that I aim to be clear and grounded. I want therapy to make sense. I often explain ideas in everyday language so that insight can become usable, not abstract. I also value pacing. Therapy does not need to be forced to be effective. At the same time, I will help you notice avoidance, repetition, or blind spots when they seem important to the work. My style is compassionate but honest. I believe good therapy should help you feel more able to face your life with steadiness, flexibility, and a stronger sense of self. That may mean reducing anxiety, improving relationships, setting healthier boundaries, grieving losses, understanding family dynamics, or making room for a fuller and more intentional life. The work is collaborative, and I tailor it to the person in front of me rather than forcing everyone into the same method.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work usually begins with getting a clear understanding of what is bringing you to therapy now, what you have been dealing with over time, and what you hope will be different. Early sessions are focused on building a strong foundation: understanding your current concerns, identifying patterns, learning about important relationships and life history, and getting a sense of how stress, anxiety, mood, family dynamics, or other pressures may be affecting you. I also want to understand your strengths, not just your struggles. As therapy develops, sessions are tailored to your needs and goals. A typical session may involve talking through something current and immediate, such as anxiety, conflict, an upsetting interaction, a parenting stressor, or a difficult decision. From there, we often look more closely at what is happening underneath the surface: your emotional responses, recurring beliefs, family roles, relationship patterns, coping style, and the larger context shaping the moment. I may help you identify patterns you have not fully noticed, offer conceptual frameworks that make your experience easier to understand, and work with you on concrete ways of responding differently. Depending on the client, therapy may include practical tools for managing anxiety, emotional regulation, boundaries, communication, and self-observation, while also making space for deeper exploration and insight. I do not believe these approaches have to be opposites. Many people benefit from both skill building and reflective work. I view therapy as a collaborative and evolving process rather than a rigid formula. We will revisit goals, notice what is helping, and adjust when needed. Some clients come for a specific issue and prefer more focused short-term work. Others want ongoing therapy that allows for deeper change over time. In either case, I aim for sessions to be thoughtful, purposeful, and relevant to your real life so that therapy becomes something you can carry beyond the room.
