Psychotherapist
45 San Clemente Dr, Ste B120, Corte Madera, CA
I believe effective therapy begins with creating a space where you feel genuinely understood, safe, and supported. For more than 25 years, I've helped adults and teens navigate anxiety, chronic stress, trauma, OCD, panic, ADHD, and other challenges that can leave people feeling stuck or overwhelmed. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in both current neuroscience and decades of clinical experience. I integrate somatic therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based therapy, and psychodynamic principles to help clients understand not only why they struggle, but also how to create meaningful and lasting change. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we work together to identify underlying patterns, strengthen your nervous system's capacity for resilience, and help you reconnect with a greater sense of confidence, balance, and well-being.

Getting to know Jonathan Pofsky

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many clients tell me they appreciate that our work feels both compassionate and effective. I strive to create an environment where you feel a balance of being listened to and engaged with. Our sessions are active and collaborative. Together we'll explore the thoughts, emotions, and body-based patterns that contribute to your difficulties while developing practical tools you can use in everyday life. Depending on your goals, therapy may include mindfulness, nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific needs. Every person is different, so I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety, healing from trauma, improving relationships, or simply wanting to feel more present and fulfilled, we'll create a treatment plan that fits your goals and moves at a pace that feels both safe and productive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session begins with checking in on what's been happening since we last met and identifying what feels most important to focus on that day. I believe in balancing thoughtful listening with active engagement, helping you better understand not only what you're experiencing, but also the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we'll explore thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and the obstacles that interfere with living the life you want. We may also identify protective parts of yourself that developed for good reasons but are no longer serving you in the ways they once did. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, we'll work to understand them with curiosity and compassion while creating new ways of responding. Because every person is different, no two sessions are exactly alike. Some sessions are more insight-oriented and conversational, while others are more experiential. Depending on your goals, we may incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, or experiential work to help you connect with what's happening in your body, strengthen emotional regulation, and support lasting change.
