Psychotherapist

Therapy can be a space to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns in between. I work with adults who may be navigating stress, relationships, identity, life transitions, burnout, or the pressure of trying to keep everything together. There’s often more happening beneath the surface of what brings someone to therapy. The same conflict showing up in different relationships. The boundary you understand intellectually but still struggle to set. Or the sense that something in your life needs to change, even if you haven’t figured out exactly what yet. That’s where our work can begin. Together, we can become curious about what’s shaping the way you think, feel, communicate, connect, and respond—and what might become possible as those patterns begin to make more sense. I also work with couples and adult families who want to better understand the dynamics between them, strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and create healthier ways of relating to one another. You don’t have to arrive with the perfect explanation for what’s wrong or a neatly defined goal. Sometimes the first part of therapy is simply making sense of where you are. We can start there.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is collaborative. We work together to understand not only what you’re thinking and feeling, but also the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be shaping how you move through the world. And not everything has to begin with words. Sometimes your body notices something first—the tension that appears during certain conversations, the instinct to shut down or pull away, or a reaction that happens before you fully understand why. We can slow those moments down, get curious about them, and make sense of what they may be communicating. I’ll bring thoughtful questions, observations, perspective, and practical tools to our work, while recognizing that you are the expert on your own experience. Some sessions may take us deeper into where a pattern began; others may focus on what’s happening in your life right now. The goal is to connect the dots between what you think, feel, experience, and do—so that greater understanding gives you more choice in how you respond, communicate, connect, set boundaries, and move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by getting curious. The first few sessions are about understanding what brought you to therapy and getting a fuller picture of your life: what’s happening now, what has shaped you, the relationships that matter to you, what feels difficult, what’s working, and what you would like to change. From there, we begin connecting the dots. We might notice a pattern between how you learned to navigate relationships and how you handle conflict today. We might explore why achievement never quite feels like enough, what makes a particular boundary so difficult to maintain, or why the same emotional reaction keeps appearing in different situations. And then we work with what we find. That may mean practicing a different way of communicating, developing strategies for managing difficult emotions, examining a belief that no longer serves you, strengthening boundaries, approaching a relationship differently, or simply learning to respond to yourself with greater understanding and intention. There isn’t a predetermined script for every client. The process should reflect the person sitting in front of me.
