Hi there, I'm Joni! Hello, and congratulations on taking this important first step. Beginning therapy is a meaningful commitment to your healing process, and I recognize the courage it takes to begin. It is natural to feel uncertain when placing your trust in someone new. Trust is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, and we take the time to move at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we will create a safe place to support your growth and healing. Are you ready to begin? Let's GO! My approach I use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach (CBT) to help you recognize and change negative thoughts and behaviors acquired over time. These negative thoughts, behaviors, and the repeated consequences that inevitably come with them become overwhelming. They make it harder to create the changes you want in your life. Just recognizing them is not enough. Without the right tools, and most importantly, "knowing how to use them," we cannot build a foundation that will withstand the storms of life. Just because we have a shiny new toolbox does not mean we know how to effectively use all of the tools! Negative behaviors are sneaky and have a hidden agenda. They can, in fact, actually hold one hostage." Together, we will fight to free you from those chains. We will walk through this together to identify, process, and make positive changes! Are you ready? My focus Are you struggling with addictions or self-defeating behaviors and the brutal consequences of them? Are you being held hostage by your past trauma? Are you stuck in a place where you now believe, "This is just how it's going to be?" Then you have come to the right place. Whatever issues or diagnoses you are struggling with, including trauma/addiction, depression, bipolar, psychosis, grief, anxiety, etc. I can help! With me comes over 25 + years in the mental health field. I have worked in inpatient hospitals, outpatient residential facilities, and private practice. and outpatient clinics.
