Getting to know Jonnett Barrick

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of South Carolina with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I am certified in EMDR and use other therapeutic techniques to help people move through the injustices they have faced. I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma, are suffering from PTSD, and for supporting adoptive families. Helping families navigate this wonderful, but also difficult, transition hits close to home, as I have two adopted children. I lived in Ethiopia for eight years and was deeply impacted by the lack of mental health services available to the community. Now that I am living back in the States, I am passionate about helping all people gain access to mental health care. In my free time, I like to spend time with my husband, three children, and my dog named Blue. I also love to travel, go camping, read, and sleep. My approach I use a variety of approaches when working with clients. I am very much a client-led, person-centered, and solution-focused therapist. I also integrate EMDR into my practice. My focus I enjoy working with adolescents, teenagers, and adult clients. I specialize in trauma-focused work but also enjoy supporting clients with other conditions such as depression and anxiety. My communication style I create a warm environment. I also use direct language with clients and have been known to integrate sarcasm into sessions. :)
