Josalynn Cartagena, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
My name is Josalynn Cartagena, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master's in Counselor Education from Sam Houston State University. Before moving to Texas, I earned my bachelor's degree in Communications, focused on radio and television, from the University of Central Florida in 2006. After a first career in radio, I wanted to make a deeper impact and became certified as a bilingual EC-4 teacher. Teaching for 10 years, I felt a calling to study counseling, as it had helped me overcome stress and anxiety stemming from childhood trauma. In 2018, I answered that call and graduated with my master's in school counseling from the CA-CREP accredited Sam Houston State University. Since 2019, I have worked in public education as a middle and high school counselor. I also gained experience in behavioral coaching for youth through a tutoring company and worked in a private practice seeing clients of all ages. In 2023, I launched my own bilingual virtual private practice, Sol Shines On, PLLC, to help people find hope and feel valued, heard, and understood as they discover better outcomes for their lives and futures. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Theory, and EMDR to help process negative memories. I am committed to continual growth through ongoing education, certifications, and specialties to expand my knowledge and better support your journey.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
