Hello, I'm Joseph B. Adams Jr., an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping you uncover your strengths and navigate life's challenges. My journey into counseling began during my time as a law enforcement officer, where I was reminded of my own difficult upbringing in Washington, D.C. This experience ignited my passion for supporting others through shared experiences of adversity and trauma. I hold a master's degree in community counseling with a concentration in marriage and family therapy, which I completed while working full-time as a police officer. My postgraduate work includes supporting clinical operations within a child and adolescent partial hospitalization program at Willowbrooke of Tanner Healthcare System, providing outpatient services at The Center for Behavioral at Tanner, and serving as a mental health provider for the GA Department and a Wellness Counselor for federal forensic scientists. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). In 2016, I founded Resilience Factor Counseling and Education, LLC, a private practice dedicated to helping individuals and families improve their quality of life amidst adversity. My work allows me to support those overwhelmed by emotional pain and fears, acknowledging the impact of social and systemic oppression while encouraging personal responsibility for healing from trauma. I have a special place in my heart for those who serve our communities, such as medical providers, firefighters, police officers, and educators. I understand the unique challenges faced by these professionals and am committed to providing the support they need. My own journey includes overcoming adverse childhood experiences, serving twenty-two years in the U.S. Army, and working six years in law enforcement. If you're looking for a compassionate and experienced counselor to help you navigate life's difficulties, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more resilient future.
