Getting to know Joseph Autry
Hi there, I'm Joseph!
My name is Joseph Autry, and I am an LPC in Virginia with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. In our first session, we'll explore what your struggles are. From there, we can identify the causes of those struggles and work on the best ways to cope with them.
My approach
I have been working with different types of therapy for 8 years. I often use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy are also approaches I like to incorporate.
My focus
Over the years, I have worked with a wide range of clients through my role as a supervisor of crisis stabilization and services for clients on probation. This experience has allowed me to support clients feeling depressed and having thoughts of self-harm, as well as those struggling with intense anger toward others.
My communication style
We'll create a plan to address each cause of your stress. This will help you leave sessions with a clear plan for the week. I want therapy to be a safe and healing space that also helps you make your life safer and more healing. Together, we'll work to make life easier for you.
My journey to therapy
I have always wanted a career where I could help people. Counseling has given me the opportunity to support individuals with anxiety and depression daily. I wake up every morning knowing my clients will feel better by the end of treatment.

Each client works with me to set their own treatment goals. I want you to feel successful in your progress. If your goals ever need to change, you can always let me know, and we will adjust the treatment plan.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will get a clear understanding of what is bothering you. We'll review everything causing your anxiety and distress, then look closely at all the sources of your stress.
