Getting to know Joseph Christensen

Joe earned his Master's in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Irvine. He has experience working with a wide range of populations and mental health conditions. These include Anxiety Disorders, Bereavement Grief Counseling, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Parenting Issues, Personality Disorders, and PTSD.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My theoretical approach favors Cognitive Behavioral Theory; however, I believe in pulling from many successful techniques (humanistic, strategic, psychodynamic, and solution focused) in an eclectic and integrated approach to therapy. Therapist flexibility is a valuable tool in helping my clients gain a balanced perspective on the life issues they are facing. I view therapy as a collaborative, shared experience and seek to help my clients feel safe, comfortable, and truly understood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients deserve a therapist that can help them reach their full potential. I strive to provide a safe and encouraging space for clients to explore their own unique life experiences, and challenges. I have helped countless clients conquer severe clinical levels of anxiety, depression, and other challenges.
