Joseph is the visionary founder of Dragonfly Behavioral Services, a comprehensive solution addressing mental health and learning needs for adults, children, and families. He received his Master’s in Social Administration from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in 2004 and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Intervention Specialist in Ohio. With over 17 years of experience, Joseph has worked in both clinical and school district settings across culturally diverse districts in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. He is also trained in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC).
Joseph’s distinctive expertise in mental health and special education provides him with deeper insight into the relationship between the emotional brain and a client’s unique learning style, creating a comprehensive framework of a client’s strengths based on ‘Learning Theory.’ He believes this therapeutic framework can be meaningful and even life-changing for his clients. Joseph also recognizes that faith and prayer can be a personal strength and source of hope, and he incorporates prayer upon request.
His specialties include treating anxiety, depression, and major life adjustments in adults, children, and families; supporting children and adolescents with interpersonal, social, and emotional challenges; and working with clients with autism and learning disabilities. Joseph’s empathic, caring, and energetic approach utilizes complementary therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Interpersonal, Strengths-Based, Mindfulness, Social/Emotional Learning (SEL), Trauma-Informed Care, art expression, partial certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and identifying and expanding abilities to support or compensate for struggles related to disabilities.
