Psychotherapist
NJ
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a military veteran. My journey into trauma therapy started long before I had the credentials — it began with my own lived experiences in the military, witnessing the weight many carry after combat, loss, or crisis. After my service, I worked at the VA hospital, providing therapy to veterans struggling with PTSD, moral injury, depression, and anxiety. The common thread? They didn’t just need a therapist — they needed someone who understood. Today, in my private practice, I offer that same depth of understanding to anyone dealing with trauma — whether from military service, childhood, relationships, or major life events. I use evidence- based approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy(CBT) and trauma-informed care to help clients process, heal, and rebuild. The name Stone and Sun is deeply personal. It draws from the Armenian Khachkar - stone - carved crosses that stand as symbols of resilience, memory, and faith. As an Armenian American, I carry with me the strength of a people who have endured and risen. That spirit is woven into the work I do: helping others rebuild, recover, and reclaim their light.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a fellow Army veteran and licensed trauma therapist, I know firsthand what it means to carry what the mission leaves behind. When you’re overwhelmed by memories you can’t silence, haunted by hypervigilance, or exhausted from carrying emotional weight alone, daily life can feel exhausting and unsafe. You might find yourself avoiding situations you once enjoyed, second-guessing decisions, or feeling numb when you want to feel grounded. Many people who’ve served or responded to trauma tell me they want peace more than relief — a life where they can show up for themselves and others without feeling depleted or on edge. I work with veterans, first responders, and trauma-affected adults who are ready to untangle patterns that keep them stuck and build evidence-based strategies for long-term regulation and connection. My approach blends cognitive-behavioral interventions with trauma-informed, strength-centered work. Moral injury and critical incident stress can turn inward—but healing starts when you shift from survival mode to a new mission. Imagine greeting each morning with more composure, stronger boundaries with others, and a sense of internal safety that makes concentration, connection, and sleep easier.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in working with veterans, first responders, and individuals navigating high-stress environments, trauma, and relationship strain. My approach is structured, direct, and focused on helping you understand not just what you’re going through, but why it keeps happening—and how to change it. In our work together, we identify patterns, challenge unhelpful thinking, and build practical strategies you can apply immediately. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and exposure-based techniques to help you face what’s been avoided and regain a sense of control. Therapy with me is active and goal-oriented. We don’t just talk—we work toward clear behavioral changes so you can improve your relationships, manage stress effectively, and feel more grounded in your day-to-day life. If you’re looking for a straightforward, no-nonsense approach that respects your experience and helps you move forward, we’ll be a good fit.
