Getting to know Dr. Joseph Finn

Sometimes we all need a hand when navigating today's fast-paced and chaotic environment. My goal is to provide that hand in an empathetic and compassionate manner. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, including panic attacks, and trauma. I have spent the last decade working with individuals in an inpatient setting, which has provided me with experience working with a wide range of disorders and symptoms and has shown the importance of compassion and understanding in therapy. I strive to provide a setting where you are able to achieve your goals in a comfortable and non-judgmental setting.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help identify and challenge the unhelpful thoughts that make anxiety and depression so persistent. I am able to offer support in the development of coping skills and new ways of thinking. Your goals, progress, and feedback will determine the direction of treatment. Collaboratively, we will work together to help you achieve these goals and live a more comfortable and enjoyable life. My goal is to help adults of all ages develop the skills necessary to face everyday challenges with confidence. These goals can be related to anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorders, and self-esteem.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Non-judgment and client comfort are extremely important aspects of a positive therapeutic environment, and I strive to provide this environment to all I serve. I value collaboration and openness during sessions, and I believe this can only be accomplished if you are comfortable sharing without fear of judgment. No matter the issues you are experiencing, know that I will be there to provide a calm and comforting presence. The first session will give us a chance to get to know one another while providing you the opportunity to discuss your overall goals for therapy. I will be there to provide any guidance you need in the development of goals. Whether with myself or another provider, I wish you well on your journey of self-discovery and improvement!
