Getting to know Joseph Illovsky

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and California. Everyone is unique, as are their issues and circumstances. I approach every individual and their situation with kindness and respect for the unique person they are. My approach I’m told I’m kind and caring. I provide feedback and work with you to overcome, come to terms with, or resolve the issues you present. I use person-centered, mindfulness, CBT, and RET approaches. My focus Being in the caring profession for over 25 years has given me the opportunity to hear a lot. I’m most comfortable working with addictions, LGBTQ+ individuals, mood disorders, and others. My communication style I participate actively in sessions. I’m not one to just sit back and listen (though I do that as well). My thought is you come to me for help, and that’s what I will provide. My journey to mental healthcare I come from a long line of mental health professionals. I am naturally empathetic and truly caring. Being a psychotherapist is a natural fit for me. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Stony Brook University. My goals for you I like to discuss things with clients, present their options, and help them make the best decisions for themselves. We establish goals together.
