Men I work well with are often driven and hardworking — coming from places like finance, law, medicine, entrepreneurship, tech, or sales — but carrying more self-doubt, overthinking, and self-criticism underneath than anyone around them would guess. Some are earlier in their careers, smart and hungry, still building real confidence in their own instincts and judgment. Others are further along in life, wondering whether the direction they've been pushing in is still true north. Others are doing well professionally but find their personal lives harder to make sense of — patterns in relationships that keep repeating, a sense of disconnection from the people closest to them, or a quiet feeling that something important is missing even when things look fine on paper. I'm a former D1 athlete and 13-year Division I coach, most recently at Columbia. I understand firsthand what it means to live inside high-performance environments. My approach is direct and structured. The work starts by identifying the mental models and beliefs quietly shaping your experience. From that awareness comes genuine choice — a rebuilt philosophy that changes how you feel, what you do, and where you're headed. Outside of work I spend time with my wife and son in New York City and Westchester — parks, local beaches, and helping out at a wrestling practice when I can. A tough workout still brings me a lot of joy. I've welcomed many men into therapy for the first time, and many back who didn't find the right fit before. What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session is a real conversation — not an intake form read back to you. We'll get to know each other. I'll hear what's bringing you in, and I'll introduction to you the core frameworks and philosophies that guide how I think about this stuff and whether it resonates with you. Therapy, as I practice it, is not simply about reducing symptoms. It is about developing a clearer relationship to yourself — your values, your relationships, and the direction you want to take. Sessions are client-led — you bring what's important to you. I'm active in the process, not a passive listener. Expect to be challenged, but also expect warmth and humor alongside that. Therapy here isn't just serious or heavy — it can be engaging, even energizing. I have advanced training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) from the renowned Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. My clinical work integrates REBT/CBT, ACT, and Existential therapy, informed by philosophical traditions that emphasize perspective, responsibility, and deliberate choice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy here is structured and reflective. We examine the beliefs and narratives shaping your emotional responses, clarify your values, and build practical flexibility in how you respond to stress and uncertainty. It requires learning to listen to your internal experience clearly enough to decide what you want to commit to, what you are willing to let go of, and how you want to move forward. A central part of the work is developing a stronger internal locus of control — learning to recognize where your interpretations, choices, and actions are actually influencing your experience, even in difficult situations. We will test the conclusions you carry about yourself, others, and what is possible.

I was overly impressed with the professionalism and ease at which Joe conducted himself during our appointment. I was skeptical about therapy entering my first appointment but was plesantly surprised at his disarming nature, making me feel very comfortable discussing my personal story with him, almost immediately.
