Getting to know Joseph Schick

Joseph received his masters degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University in 2019, and has five years of experience working as a counselor. He has worked with adults of all ages. He completed his graduate internship at The Wellness Center in LaGuardia Community College. Joseph continued to work in LaGuardia as a college counselor, while also working at the school’s Neurodiversity Program, which services students with high functioning autism, ADHD, and social anxiety. As a counselor Joseph employs an integrated approach, combining solution focused and cognitive behavioral interventions with psychodynamic approaches. Joseph believes a strong relationship between the therapist and client is essential for creating a comfortable and effective environment for therapy. He looks at each person holistically, spending time to get to know each client on a personal level. By getting to know the client Joseph learns what their goals for therapy are, and together with the client works to accomplish these goals. Joseph understands that no one approach works for everyone, and therefore uses different techniques with different clients. Joseph’s aim for all his clients is to have them live the happiest, most meaningful life they can.
