You're just a normal person having some issues with thoughts or behaviors. That doesn't mean there’s something wrong with you. That just means we have a chance to work on something together. I love being able to walk with somebody through OCD treatment and help them make their life a little better. I'll work hard to help us feel connected. We'll get a little uncomfortable together, because that's where most of the good work happens. I also have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, and relationship issues. My personal connection to OCD and mental health What really inspired me to specialize in ERP was meeting someone early in my career who had OCD but didn't know it-and neither did anyone else. It was frustrating to see how misunderstood OCD was, even by professionals. That drove me to learn everything I could so I could help people who were being misdiagnosed and mistreated. Now, I love being able to tell people, "This is what you have, and this is the way out." How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy Therapy should be collaborative. I tell my members from day one that I want their feedback-what's working, what's not, what they love, what they hate-so they know I'm on their team. I also use humor, personal stories, and real-life successes to make therapy feel engaging. ERP can be challenging, but that doesn't mean it has to feel cold or clinical. My goal is to make sure people feel supported, heard, and prepared every step of the way. The most rewarding part of treating OCD I've had Members who haven't hugged a family member in years, and then one day, they do. I've had people go from being afraid to cook their own meals to confidently making dinner. These wins-big or small-matter, and I make sure we take time to celebrate them. Many people are so hard on themselves, focusing on what they haven't done yet.
