“I give 4 stars because I had a good first impression but one session isn’t enough to definitely recommend a psychologist. There were no red flags raised and Matt was a pleasant guy. There was a mixup in terms of who I thought I was booking a session with over whether or not they accepted insurance but I decided to proceed with the alternative person suggested. It was a good first session, a getting to know you session where I did most of the talking recounting my background and story. He listened well and seemed a pleasant enough guy. I will continue with him and see how it goes.”

Getting to know Joshua Blum

* I do not offer any Psychiatric Services. * The provider is also licensed in the state of NJ as a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC01065300. Seeking support is a meaningful first step in the therapeutic process. Reaching out can be difficult, and it is also an early act of self-care. I’m a native New Yorker who transitioned from a career in the corporate world to pursue a long-standing passion: supporting individuals, couples, and families in identifying and working through both internal and external barriers—in their relationships with themselves and with others. My practice centers on building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship—one that offers the safety necessary to explore your past, present, and future with honesty, depth, and without judgment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My eclectic approach includes working from a psychodynamic, modern psychoanalytic, and relational perspective—incorporating cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based modalities as needed. I specialize in working with adults, couples, and families on various topics. My practice focuses on cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship in order to provide a safe environment to build upon your own narrative. I strive to bring my authentic self into the therapy space as a way of helping patients do the same.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have extensive training and experience in LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy and issues relating to: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, addiction, trauma, learning disabilities, neurodivergence, sexual orientation, gender identity/gender roles, non-traditional relationships, and religious identities.

I found Josh at a really pivotal point in my life. He’s been incredibly helpful as I work through major life transitions and long-standing thought patterns. He continues to offer thoughtful insight and new ways of thinking specific to my situation. I’m very glad I found him and highly recommend him to anyone looking for compassionate, skilled support.
I’ve been seeing Josh for a minute now and I can’t recommend them more. They are compassionate and insightful while also honest and direct. They’ve really done the most to help me and I would never have achieved the growth or been able to navigate my OCD the way I am learning to without their help. They’re occasionally a few minutes late to session but well worth it. I would give them more stars if I could.
Really met me where I'm at. He adds a practical and pragmatic view to my life that i am missing and grounds me. Very down to earth and great person. I feel extremely comfortable sharing. Have been going to him for years! Highly recommend!
Josh is a great listener, incredibly kind, thoughtful and I genuinely look forward to our sessions. I always feel better afterwards, I can't recommend him enough!

I’ve been seeing Josh Blum for three years and he has helped me tremendously. His care has been invaluable for my mental health, I would recommend him to anyone and everyone, especially in the LGBTQ community.
Working with Josh has been wonderful. From our very first session, I felt truly seen, heard, and accepted. They create a space that feels safe, warm, and deeply respectful — a place where I’ve been able to explore not just my struggles, but also parts of myself I hadn’t fully understood before.
I love my sessions with Josh, he is always very flexible with me and overall treats me with care and patience. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking a thoughtful therapist who is always there for you!
I can’t say enough good things about Hudson Square Therapy and my therapist, Josh. They supported me through a very challenging time in my life, and I’ve continued with regular sessions because the therapy has been so helpful. Josh is an incredible listener—you can tell he truly cares and takes the time to understand. I highly recommend Hudson Square Therapy to anyone looking for thoughtful, supportive, and effective care.
