Getting to know Joshua Despain

Joshua is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Masters Degree from Lindenwood University. He has worked in the area of Counseling Psychology since 2010 and has experience in supervision, behavior intervention specialist and psychotherapy. Joshua has additional training done in substance abuse, mindfulness based stress reduction, EMDR, and trauma. Joshua has experience working with individuals, LGBTQA and couples; counseling a variety of issues including, premarital and marital, relationships, divorce, anxiety, mood disorders, depression, anger management, self-esteem, grief and loss and a variety of other life transitional issues. As a psychotherapist, he enjoys providing authentic, compassionate, empathetic, non judgemental and insightful support as he journeys with his clients through a variety of challenges they face. Joshua understands that our past has influenced our present and becoming mindful of these situations will help create a new understanding of ourselves. Our life experience, positive or negative, are building blocks for who we are today and can be effective tools in creating who we aspire to be tomorrow. He believes that with the right tools, emphatic support, and personal determination, we can live our lives in the only true moment, now.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that our specialty is talk therapy. We DO NOT provide medication management or prescription refills. We DO NOT specialize in treatment for substance or alcohol use. Clients must be present in the state of New York at the time of the appointment. Minimum client age: Please note that Josh works with clients who are at least 18 years old.
