What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm committed to providing you with a safe space to discuss and explore your experiences, to learn new ways and skills for navigating mental health conditions, and to listen to your story with compassion. I incorporate mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion-based approaches into treatment. I have found that these treatments tend to be helpful and relevant to most people I have worked with. I do have a lot of experience in evidence-based treatments which have reliable track records for improving symptoms and providing relief. I will customize these treatments to meet you where you are at and to draw upon your own strengths.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We would begin treatment with an intake assessment. This would be an opportunity for me to learn about what is currently going on for you and what your hopes for therapy are. I would assess your history and current mental health. I would use this information to develop a treatment plan with you to address your needs and goals. After the intake assessment, the treatment process will vary by person. In general, you can expect that I would provide you with information about your mental health condition in order to help you become an expert in that area. We would also likely begin monitoring your symptoms and work on identifying which factors have an influence over your symptoms. We would then transition to an intervention phase during which we collaborate on identifying and implementing solutions. We would continuously assess what's working for you and what's not, and make changes as needed.
