Joshua McClanahan, LPC

Psychotherapist
WV
I am an LPC (WV License # 2979) based in Delbarton, WV. I am currently a member of the board for the West Virginia Counseling Association, and I am passionate about my work. I believe there is no cookie-cutter approach to therapy, so I view each client as a unique individual and work to meet them where they are. I work with individuals 16 and above for both mental health and addiction. My approach Each person has a unique story to tell based on their life experiences. Therapy needs to be tailored to meet the needs of each person to help them find meaning and purpose in life. As such, I use a wide range of evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, utilizing a person-centered approach. You will also find that I integrate techniques from other modalities, such as Gestalt, when needed. We will work together to find what works best for you and build upon those skills to promote wellness and healing! My focus I primarily work with adult individuals, couples, and older teens from all races, genders, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. I believe you "grow through what you go through" and have helped clients learn to cope with anxiety, depression, PTSD, marital and relationship problems, grief, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and the stress that comes from work and daily life. My communication style You will find that I am genuine and authentic. I pride myself on being the same person during sessions as I am in my daily life, while keeping it ethical and professional. I strive to create a friendly, safe, and judgment-free space where you can be comfortable being yourself and speak about anything. I want to walk with you through your struggles and celebrate your successes along the way!
